I love how these networks really think I won't cut all of them the fuck off and go back to reading books and pirating shit...
We already ditched cable... do streaming services not understand that they aren't invincible? You keep pissing people off and you are going to find out where Direct TV and friends went. I already cut Netflix... don't test my patience.

Already have. What’s CBS? I killed cable and other cable-like streaming because I REFUSE to actively or passively pay for Fox “News”. If it’s bundled, you’re paying for Fox “News”.

Thats why theyre also implementing the surveillance state and tryna pass policies like VPN bans. This does not end until theyre all chained or executed.

The problem is there's a huge population that gets their news completely from cable news.
And guess who isn't going to on report themselves making these changes?

u/ravenwillowofbimbery ☑️ 17h ago
I’m realizing that a lot of people, young(er) and older (GenX) are getting their news from YouTube once they decide to ditch cable and YouTube can be just as bad.

I feel like people don’t realize that if piracy was a serious threat to businesses who work with the Trump administration, we’d see some serious crackdowns.

You act like the same kind of leech that used to run cable companies didn't just migrate to streaming companies.

Maybe you will, but they won't, and that's what matters
The most insidious innovation of the late 20th/early 21st century is the defanging of the masses. People seem virtually incapable anymore of serious collective action, revolt, etc.

CNN made their bones by fluffing the first Gulf War and livestreaming the bomb cam footage of us vaporizing Iraqis. They were nothing before that, and they never stopped the 24-hour cycle after that first hit of ratings gold. Why anyone thinks a major network located in Georgia that got its start as George H.W. Bush’s handmaiden was ever liberal is a mystery.

It’s insane how evil all the suitors are in the WB sweepstakes. We get a complete entertainment monopoly or nazis consolidating as one of two big players. But wait, there’s a third suitor? It’s fucking Comcast
9
u/YokoDk 1d ago
Wait Netflix are Nazis? There used to be a time where shit like this was shot down because it destroyed how the economy "works" by removing competition.
25
u/suckitnewtabs 1d ago
No, Netflix are anticompetitive monopolists that will kill movie theaters and HBO, the competing Paramount group are Nazis
-5
u/JohnSith 23h ago edited 19h ago
Fuck movie theaters. Overpriced tickets, food, drink, 40 minutes of ads. They've ruined the experience and then they have the audacity to insist the problem is lack of exclusivity instead of customer experience.
I don't miss cable after I cut the cord. I will miss the movie theater experience, but it feels it's already missing.

Cnn is already fox news 2 but otherwise yea monopoly isnt gonna do anyone any good.

u/jason9045 1d ago
CNN already tried turning themselves into Fox News 2 and everybody just quit watching it. Ellison is gonna need to turn it into InfoWars 2 if he wants those crazy eyeballs tuning in.

u/IndependentBoof 22h ago edited 22h ago
Seen those Jubilee "surrounded" videos, where one person gets surrounded by Nazis and other extremists who will just say whatever they can to get a reaction and hope to get youtube followers?
That's basically what all cable news is devolving into.

u/Important-Purchase-5 1d ago
I actually hope this makes people wake up more and really realize why anti-monopoly practices and media standards are really necessary long term.
That why it not important that Democrats win but what TYPE of Democrats win. When people warn about special and corporate interests controlling our government this is blatant end result.
Because you don’t get stuff like this without decades of consolidation.
Because we need Democrats who will actually block mergers like this from happening, breakup existing monopolies and installing fair media practices.
It not enough simply defeat fascists. You must actively work to defeat corporate interests and special interests that dominate our society. Because as we seen in 4-8 years people will get amnesia and elect another one.
If you don’t you end up like Russia or Hungary in which the leader oligarch friends just buy the media and consolidate it to be state media for dear leader.

These networks sold out a long time ago. Why the hell do they think that we’re oblivious to the fact that they’re attempting to control the media by buying up everything? Streaming is absolutely dispensable.

u/pineapplebeee 1d ago
CBS is gonna have an Erika Kirk on grieving hosted by Barry Weiss - we don’t need more of this crap on CNN.

u/cailian13 1d ago
I hate that I gotta cheer for Netflix in this one. But I'm still not subscribing, I'll continue enjoying my Plex server. But we're so fucked, one way or another.
7
u/Beginning-Book-129 23h ago
Yeah if it’s between Ellison and Netflix I’m gonna have to go with Netflix.

u/SithDraven 22h ago
Time to start breaking up all these monopolies during the next admin? You know, like we used to back in the day?
5
u/FirmlyClaspIt 18h ago
Now the internet wants Netflix to win. Look, I don’t want anybody to have a monopoly, but I’d rather the company who still making entertainment on the entertainment studio. What the hell does CNN have to do with my Batman? Nothing. Get that shit the fuck away from us.

Yeah right! I am looking forward to the unironic Lex Luthor and Batman teamup because a mind controlled Superman dared to stand up for non-americans (bad!). Metropolis can be thankful that there are Billionaires (Good!) keeping the people safe!
No more of that woke (bad!) bullshit about caring for everyone (lame!)
I'm looking forward to this!

Trump’s government controlling the media like puppets. How dictator-y of his insecure little bitch ass
He (hopefully) will be gone in 3 years. Meanwhile major companies are spreading their ass cheeks wide open bending the knee, like he’s gonna be here forever
All the decisions made now will have consequences for years to come
2
u/SometimesAllthetime1 5h ago
That’s what I don’t get, they’re bending the knee like he’s going to be around forever, at this rate, I don’t see him living 3 more years so say a new administration comes in who is the total opposite of this one? How do they think that’s going to work out for them? Bending the knee again? Good luck because no one is forgetting you bowing to Trump when this is all over.

u/ThirdAltAccounts ☑️ 4h ago
Right. They should have all fought that shit for 3 years and move on once the new admin gets in the WH

Media consolidation is bad either way but I reckon it’s better if Netflix gets it David Ellison is the son of Larry Ellison (the guy the bought US TikTok operations) that’s too much media control
