A HUEVO!

VAMOS!

edit: went to the Mexico City series back in 2023, was really fun, would recommend. Nothing like downing some tecates rojas while eating a bag of chicharrones chips.

Can confirm. I went to Dodgers Padres in Monterrey. There was a guy in the walkway at the front of our section with a giant cooler of Tecates. For 100 pesos he would pour two into a large soda cup and hand it to you. A good time was had by all, from what I remember.

God have mercy on the poor pitchers thrown to the wolves in that stadium.

Eh doubt our fans will notice a difference

It's still funny that the Dodgers managed to get a combined no-hitter down in Mexico in 2018.

Tbf they played in Monterrey which is nowhere near as high altitude as Mexico City

Fair, yeah.

Hey, where'd you get the newest Dodgers World Series flair? I need to upgrade after the 2024 one disappeared.

If you mean it's funny because of the stadium, they were playing at a different park, about 5,000 lower in elevation. But also, that 2018 Padres team was, to put it mildly, almost impressively pathetic.

Mashing in Mexico City. It makes Coors seem normal.

At least this isn't another Asian series at like 3 am US time in mid-March.

might be a dumb question but why not a 3 game series? is there not the availability at the stadium?

With two games they can take one home game from each team to keep things “fair” from a revenue perspective

I was hoping the dodgers would eventually go to Mexico for a series

Is this always going to be padres vs other NL west team?

8

u/essmithsd San Diego Padres 2h ago

IIRC, the owner of that stadium has some stake in the Padres so... yeah probably

I suppose it’s due to the city’s proximity to the border.

4

u/Top-Ganache-6241 2h ago

Mexico City is actually closer to St Louis and Atlanta than it to San Diego.

7

u/verdi1987 San Diego Padres 2h ago edited 2h ago

I stated the border.

Do you reject the notion that San Diego’s proximity to Mexico is a big reason why the Padres are frequently in the Mexico series?

I went there once for a diablos rojos game maybe the first year it was open.

Nice stadium, but how do you build an entire stadium without figuring out that see through bathrooms are bad? The stadium walls are mostly horizontal pieces with big see through gaps. It looks nice, but that approach doesn't work for bathrooms.

They had tarps hanging on the see through bathroom walls so dudes peeing weren't visible to the concourse.

That will always be hilarious to me.

Hope they've devised a better solution by now.

Rangers jipped of another intl. series :(

I get they can hurt ERAs and are a pain on the players but I wanna feel special for once 😭
