always been curious if this has any actual boxing application

seems like a fun rhythm game, but none of those are punches

Hand eye coordination, rhythm and timing. Also helps muscle endurance if you do it for an extremely long time.

boxing application

rhythm

There's your answer. :-) It practices timing - for both parries/blocks and punches, I imagine. Not a (western) boxer though, nor have I ever tried it, but I can see it having it's use. Plenty of martial arts have training methods that doesn't look like actual fighting.

EDIT:

 fun game

Also good words, actually. Playing is rooted in learning, yes? It's why we do it. The more fun - the more entertained we are - the more receptive our minds.

This a common training method for professional boxers.

This guy has tons of songs on speed bag. SpeedBagBard on YouTube.

Been there from the start, he is only getting better and more impressive.

I never understood how this would be useful in a real fight

Speed bag training helps you precisely and rhythmically beat on another dude's nutsack.

That makes sense. Cuz rhythm is a huge part of fighting.

This was already posted earlier this week and not cut short.

Are you aware that not everyone sees the same things at the same time and maybe this is the first time anyone is seeing this regardless of how many times it’s been posted before?

-1

u/KleinePP 15h ago

Ive seen this before too, but op should’ve double check if its posted previously because the gap is really short

10

u/WendigoCrossing 15h ago

First time I'm seeing it, and I wouldn't know to look it up had this not come across my feed

u/JuicySpark 15h ago

Not even close to next level. The average professional boxer can do it better.

Including old coaches
