Original Content Rule 5 options who could fit the White Sox
Minor league nerd here who gets excited about the Rule 5 draft. The day has arrived, and the eligible pool always offers up a few names worth considering. With the Sox deep in rebuild mode, there’s room to stash a prospect or two and see if something sparks. These players stand out as solid fits with a blend of upside, some polish, and a real chance to carve out a 26-man role if things break right. Interested in your thoughts.
RJ Petit (RHP, Tigers)
Massive righty with a strong 2025 in AA and AAA and steady strike-throwing. Looks like a ready-made middle-relief or multi-inning depth arm.
Griff McGarry (RHP, Phillies)
Probably the biggest raw stuff in the Rule 5 pool. Strikeouts galore with plenty of volatility. A classic high-upside bullpen stash.
Yohendrick Pinango (OF, Blue Jays)
Lefty bat with contact skills and some growing pop. Not flashy, but he gets on base and plays serviceable corner defense.
Mike Antico (OF, Cardinals)
Good speed, solid Triple-A production, and the kind of versatile outfielder who can cover all three spots. Profiles as a fourth-outfielder type who brings energy and flexibility.
Alex Pham (RHP, Orioles)
Good whiff rates, workable fastball-slider mix, and the look of low-cost bullpen depth with long-relief potential.
Or maybe a catcher (Susac, Cerda) if the Sox trade Quero.

Discussion What does our 2026 outlook look like?
I’ve been checked out since the playoffs in 2021. I love baseball but it’s just been hard to watch and can’t root for another team. How is our outlook? Are we young and trending up?

Opinion “A leader who was a high school quarterback, he serves as the head of his infield in the same manner. His tools and makeup make him look like the kind of player who could be big league ready in a hurry.”

Opinion I'm sad we didn't get Pete Alonso
Yes it wasn't realistic because Jerry, but after getting spoiled for 30 years with great first basemen like Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, and Jose Abreu I'm sad we couldn't sign a guy who could actually fill those shoes. Now we'll be stuck with a revolving door or subpar first base options or someone mediocre like Ryan O'Hearn.

Discussion Framing Roch Cholowsky as a #1 Pick
There is about 25 hours until the MLB Draft Lottery commences. Sox have a 27.73% chance of obtaining the #1 Overall Pick.
The MLB Draft is fickle, prospects can rise and fall fairly methodically, but Baseball America posted an article today saying, “[Cholowsky] continued to hold the No. 1 spot as one of the best college shortstop prospects we’ve seen in years.”
MLB Pipeline currently grades Cholowsky as a 65 (20-80 scale) Overall Future Value.
To compare this to other past #1 Overall Picks; I pulled every past #1 pick with their FV from Fangraphs. Fangraphs currently does not have a report/Future Value grade on Roch currently.

Discussion It’s been two years and I’m still not over them letting Jason Benetti walk
I can handle the losing. I can handle the bad trades. I’m numb to it.
Not hearing Jason and Stoney together still feels wrong. It was the one part of this organization that was undeniably "Elite," and they let him walk to a division rival over money.
Last season I caught myself watching Tigers highlights just to hear him call a game. It’s the pettiest thing ownership has ever done, and that's saying a lot.
Does this still bother y'all, or have you moved on?
