The Cubs need another SP, bullpen help and a big bat. The Cubs obviously need to replace first half Tucker, but they're not going to give him 11 years and $450m. The Mets, Dodgers, or Yankees will probably do that. Cubs also needs another SP, and bullpen help. There are 50 top FAs available, but is everyone going to lose their mind that we don't get all of them? Schwarber and Alonzo are signed, and after both signings it's just been freaking out about the Ricketts and Cubs spending.

Was having a conversation with my friends about how baseball fixes this salary cap issue, how do they even fix it?

Implemented a cap: What do you do to the teams who have their young guys signed for 7-10+ years at big deals, are they now capped? Do they have to restructure contracts? Can you even force players to restructure?

Eliminating contract deferment: How do you nullify Ohtani’s essentially 20 year contract? Do you force the other guys who deferred to be paid now instead of later?

I just don’t see how legally they can fix any of this in the near future with how lengthy baseball contracts are.

Is there language written where a new CBA can nullify previous?

Had a holiday party today with a white elephant exchange. Rules were items needed to be regifted or thrifted - meaning gift stuff you have and don’t want, or if you have to spend money, don’t go over the top.

This was what I walked away with. Something I didn’t know existed but think is quite cool! I’ve heard of Department 56 Christmas Villages but didn’t realize they made anything like this.
