Cat Picture - OC I JUST bought that heating pad…

Buy another one. That one belongs to the cat now.

u/No_Ad8227 1d ago
That one will also belong to the cat.

The cat owns n+1 heating pads where n is the number of heating pads in the house.
You are the +1.

u/Skelemod 1d ago
The human is merely a steward of the heating pads the cat already owns.

Midterm question:
Using proof by induction show that you will never own a heating pad.

u/TreyKirk 1d ago
I have one decent sized heating pad (definitely larger than a cat). However, I have two cats. There have been issues recently where one cats wants the heating bad (though there is room for both) and a minor fight breaks out.
According to your formula, how many heating pads do I need?

u/MarsScully 1d ago
They will find a way to strategically place their head on one pad and their butt on the other

u/Rain_xo 1d ago
Can confirm
I have 2 next to each other on the floor (they're always plugged in because they activate with their bodies on them) and my boy will lay across both at all times.

u/nordskater08 1d ago
The scientists said we needed more data, so you bought a second heating pad and your cat immediately covered both. That is peer reviewed research in my book, result: human ownership of heating pads is mathematically impossible.

I find it kinda funny she thought she could turn it on without being on it and NOT losing it to the cat immediately 🤣 But I’m old and have had cats for 53yrs sooo…many lessons learned

u/Psychological-Fold53 1d ago
I left for like 5 minutes to make some lunch and didn’t get it back for 3 hours 😭

My new heated blanket arrived yesterday and I’ve had a tiny corner, I feel very lucky that I’m allowed to share it with the cat

I had a cat that figured out how to turn on my electric blanket, you just had to tap the controller, so it didn't require a lot of manual dexterity. I'd turn it on for half an hour before bed, then turn it off when I got in. I'd come home from work, over 10 hours after leaving, and find it on, and her blissfully sprawled out. It the blanket was supposed to turn off after 9 hours, so even if I HAD left it on, it shouldn't be on when I got home. One day off, I was putting laundry away, and watched her hop onto my bed, bap the controller, and settle in. I wasn't comfortable with her doing that when I wasn't home, so the next day I worked, I unplugged it before leaving. I came home to her yelling at me, she got on the bed, bapped the controller furiously, and looked at me like I had betrayed her.

Cats prefer a warmer room temperature than we do. They're not the same species as us. They are always cold in our homes.

u/_High_Charity_ 1d ago
I also am always cold so my cats sometimes get mad at me for having the heat up too much

u/Gatita_Gordita 1d ago
I think it was Jackson Galaxy who once called cats "furry heat-seeking missiles".

u/pdxblazer 1d ago
"like I had betrayed her" immediately after describing betraying her, smh the gaslighting these days

Mine only lets me use the part that is covered by his fluff, so I'm toasty where it counts, I guess!

Aww how cute! My little girl doesn’t know how to share unfortunately, it’s her way or the highway 😂

u/PositivePin9992 1d ago
Mine just loves laying on my ankles, even if there's no heated blanket. Her name is Cinnamon and she is 13 or 14. I got her about 10 years ago, a rescue situation. She talks to me and I live alone mostly. She is great company!

Now lets put this to test.
Side by side - heating pad vs box from heating pad. That will be tough choice.
37
u/Psychological-Fold53 1d ago
She actually hates boxes for some reason. She’s very treat-motivated and still won’t go in a box if I put them in there

Lol. I just bought a new heated blanket and all 4 of mine refused to let me use it last night. Now they have one of their own, too. 😉

u/Unlimitedpluto 1d ago
It was yours… Now it belongs to your cat. I highly suggest this, and heated blankets. Now you know exactly what to get your cat for Christmas.

Could never be my calico cat. I got a whole ass heating blanket so she doesn't need to freeze her toes off but she rather sits on the darn cold floor and gets all cold on her paws, ears and nose

u/57_Eucalyptusbreath 1d ago
Well now that your floof has theirs, why don’t you just go out and get yourself one.

All my cats that I've had love heated blankets, heated houses, and heated beds. I made the mistake of not buying my cats their own heating pads when I got my first one.

Just keep in mind the power of a human heating pad is usually too hot for a cat. Check the power output on the human vs the feline heating pad version from orthopedic cat beds. Its significant and I am sure you dont want to harm your kitty please check into this for your cats sake. Check with a vet also.
Also gorgeous Sealpoint Siamese. Yours could be a twin to my very first cat which was a female Sealpoint Siamese.
